Eat. Sleep. Work. Repeat. #lifeofayachtstew
I have to admit something…I have a love/hate relationship with summer. Don’t get me wrong, nothing makes me happier than watching the sun set at 10pm after enjoying a day lounging around the pool. However, summer also means back to back guest trips & the more I grow in the industry, the less time I have to myself.
So today’s post is all about…BALANCE.
How in the world are yacht stews supposed to find balance & zen when they’ve just worked 16 hours & are at anchor? After 6 very busy summer seasons, I’ve creating a little list of things to do when you feel as though you need some ‘you’ time.
Stretch it out
My favourite yoga stretch sequence is a 20 minute video from Yoga with Adriene. I try to do it every 3 days or so. The series of moves help with tight muscles AND it’s nothing too hectic, so you should be able to do it even in the smallest of cabin space. Last week while the guests were off for lunch, I was able to do my stretch routine on the bow… SO good! Fresh air & yoga. Perfect combo!
At home SPA
Close the door to your cabin, turn off your radio & put on some chill out music. Take a hot shower & use a hair mask while you’re in there! Most of the masks I’ve used in the past have been from Sephora & only need to be in your hair for 5 mins! (That’s the perfect amount of time to shave your legs!). Or, before jumping in the shower, wash off your make up & lather on a face mask. Take 10 minutes to let it set & have a seat, allow yourself those spare few minutes to relax & rinse it off in the shower.
Chocolate…
Need I say more?! I keep a bar of dark chocolate on my bedside table. Well, if we are being real, Ben (my other half) & I have a fully loaded snack basket… He knows regardless of what kind of day I’ve had, chocolate is always a good idea. Buying local chocolate where ever the boat travels is a simple & small luxury I can indulge in at the end of the day.
Treat yourself girl!
Get your credit card out & buy yourself something pretty. I recently started wearing this Halo Cuff from Jimani Collections & it’s amazing how a piece of jewellery can make you feel like the incredible woman that you are. This company is completely inspiring & changing the world. I wear this piece with the guests onboard because I believe it’s important (when possible) to have a bit of your own personality while wearing charter uniform. Even a small thing such as this can give you that piece of yourself during a busy work day!
How do you find balance while the guests are onboard?! Let me know in the comments below!
Big Hugs,
